Team Equipment -policies, availability
The Hamilton Hammerheads have used grant funds and donations over the years to purchase equipment that they then lend to team members for an annual maintenance fee. The fee is used to repair bikes and when funds are available, purchase new bikes. As of 2009 the team owes 15 bikes of various sizes, 5 wet-suits of various sizes and 6 cycle trainers. The team does not charge a maintenance fee for the use of wetsuits or trainers. The lending out of wet-suits and trainers is by first-request to the head coach and/or team equipment manager. Wet-suits are to be used for one race/weekend and then they are available for the next request. Trainers are allocated to team members in need by the head coach.
Team bikes are lent out on an annual basis from December to December. The annual maintenance fee is $150 and there is an agreement to sign for the use of the bike over the year. Every December, team bikes are returned to the assigned cycle shop for inspection and repairs. The cost of these repairs, if they are normal wear and tear, is borne by the team. If you crash a bike or the team bike in your possession meets some other disaster, then you are responsible for the repairs or replacement. If you leave the team at any period, then the bike must be returned to the club immediately so that it is available for another team member. No refunds on the maintenance fee are available after April 1st.
