Coaching Staff

Kevin Mackinnon, Head Coach
Kevin has been coaching for more than 25 years and has been an inspiration to athletes, young and old, in the community and around the world. During that time he was a provincial and national champion runner at Queens University, Ontario’s Ironman of the year (1989), the winner of local and international triathlon and duathlon races, and was the second Canadian finisher at the Ironman World Championship in Hawaii both times he raced there.

On top of all that competitive experience, Kevin has also coached many top age group and professional triathletes in Canada and the United States. Some of the athletes he has worked with over the last decade include Ironman World Champion Lori Bowden, ten-time Ironman Champion Lisa Bentley, five-time national champion Mark Bates, and many other elite athletes. He has also worked with provincial and national championship track and field athletes. He was, until recently, the coach of the University of Toronto Triathlon team.

He has written two books: “A Healthy Guide to Sport” and “Triathlon for Youth: A Healthy Guide to Competition.”

Kevin was named the Ontario Association of Triathlete’s Coach of the year in 2003. When he’s not coaching, he also announces at many triathlon and running events, and is the Managing Editor of Ironman.com and the editor of Triathlon Magazine Canada.

Greg Pace
Greg has been behind the Ontario Triathlon scene almost since it started. He was one of the founders of the Ontario Association of Triathletes, has served as the president of the association, and remains on the board of directors.

Greg’s extensive involvement in the fitness industry has helped him become one of the leading coaches in the province. His adult training groups have enjoyed success at every triathlon distance, while his kids programs are renowned for being upbeat and fun — Greg runs the very successful youth triathlon program at the Olympia Sports Camp in Muskoka during the summer.

Sharon Mackinnon
Sharon has coached with the Hamilton Olympic Club for a number of years. Sharon competed at the 1992 Olympic Trials, where she made the final of the 800m event, and has represented Canada on four national triathlon teams.
