    Head Coach of the Hamilton Hammerheads:  Deanne Dietz

     A former Teacher from Newfoundland, Deanne is a NCCP Certified Community triathlon Coach, Holistic Nutritionist and Personal Trainer.   Deanne was the Triathlon Canada Long Course Triathlon World Championships Team Coach in 2011 and has competed at various World Championships at the Long Course and 70.3 distances.  Deanne has also completed Ironman Florida and continues to participate at many local and provincial races.   Deanne is extremely excited to work with the Hammerheads and is committed to developing each and every athlete’s personal strengths and athletic ability.

    Tri and Cycle Coach: Evan Dietz

    Evan is a NCCP certified community triathlon and cycling coach and an avid athlete.   In 2011, Evan was the World Championships Long Course Triathlon Canada Team Coach in Vegas, and has competed in many World Championships at various distances.  

    Masters Swim Coach (Senior Swimmers): Dan Macaulay

    Dan is the current Assistant Varsity Coach with McMaster University and holds an NCCP Triathlon Coaching Certification.  Dan swam at the 2005 Canada Games and holds club records in Dartmouth Nova Scotia.

    Run Coach: Phil Steel

    Phil is excited to be bringing his running expertise to the Hammerhead senior runners.  Over the course of the year, he will guide the runners through their training as they compete with their school teams in cross country and track, all while preparing them for their upcoming triathlon seasons. 

    Run Coach: Kate MacNamara

    Kate grew up in Dundas and played competitive hockey until 2004 when she graduated from Wilfred Laurier University. Kate began running in 2004 after returning to McMaster for nursing. In 2005 and 2006 Kate won the Around the Bay road race (30km) as well as ran the Boston Marathon as an Elite women’s competitor. Since then Kate has been successful in various road races. Kate has been helping coach the FAB (Fit, Active, and Beautiful) Girls and is looking forward to working with the Hammerheads running program.

    Dr. Roy Till

    An Ancaster area triathlete and coach, Dr. Till helped start the C3 Canadian Cross Training Club in the 90s and is interested in sharing his knowledge with Hammerhead athletes and coaches.

    John Erik Rasmussen

    John Erik Rasmussen (also known as Johnny Raz) is a McMaster University Kinesiology Student who has been a highly skilled triathlete for the last few years.   Well rounded in the swim-bike and run, John is excited to have the chance to pass his wisdom onto the Hammerhead athletes on a weekly basis.

    Taylor Reid

    Taylor grew up in Caledon, and is now in 3rd year at McMaster University in History.   He was 2nd at the Canadian National Junior Championships in 2010.  He has been top Canadian at 2 World Duathlon Championships and twice was named Canadian Duathlete of the Year.  Recently he won the Windsor Can Am 3000m race in 8 minutes 41 seconds.   He hopes to represent Canada at both the 23 and under and elite division over the next few years.  He is a long-time member of the C3 Canadian Cross Training Club.  Taylor is excited to have a chance to pass his passion and wisdom off to younger developing athletes like the Hammerhead athletes.

    Bill Reynolds

    Reynolds began his triathlon career in 1984. After more than 20 years of training and racing as an age group athlete, Bill turned his focus towards coaching. Bill is a Certified Competition Level Triathlon Coach through NCCP and was a founding member and head coach of the TrYforce Triathlon Club in St. Catharines. He presently coaches triathletes of all levels and ages. Bill is also a Certified Personal Trainer.
